Dirty dishes coming out of the dishwasher? Read this

Few things piss me off on this Earth more than when technological devices fail to perform their duties. I acknowledge it is not entirely sensible to rage toward an inanimate object, but sometimes it’s necessary.

Blaine and I have been living together in our home now for roughly four years, meaning our appliances are only four years old. We haven’t had any issues with our new appliances, fingers crossed, aside from our dishwasher; this thing has been giving me grief since day one, and I’m pretty sick of its shit.

Pulling dirty dishes out of the dishwasher after you have run a cleaning cycle is not it, and it’s getting old. I’ve tried a few different tricks that occasionally work, but one of the most effective things I’ve learned to combat a poorly performing dishwasher is vinegar. A few years ago, a guy who fixed appliances for a living told me to throw in a healthy dose of vinegar, along with the dishwashing soap, when I run the machine, and it really does make a tremendous difference.

If the vinegar trick isn’t doing it for you, you may want to check out the drain in your dishwasher. Bits of food can easily clog this thing, meaning the appliance doesn’t run as it should, and it is often the culprit behind dirty dishes after you have run a cycle.

If, after using vinegar and cleaning out the drain, you’re still facing food-caked dishes after a clean, the perpetrator could be your soap, believe it or not. Specific dishwashers work best with specific soap tailored to a particular machine, and switching to one that your dishwasher requires can be an absolute game-changer.

I sincerely hope these tricks work for you as they did for me, and, if, after trying everything, you’re still spotting food on your clean dishes, it might be time to call in a professional to check for other issues with the device.
