I am entirely aware of the fact that the title of today’s post may not be the most enticing food creation you’ve ever heard of, but I do ask that you keep an open mind. Despite the jargon not being the most alluring, I can promise you that the final product is scrumptious.
A few evenings ago, while trying to determine what the hell I was going to throw together in the form of dinner, I was clawing through my freezer in an attempt to find some sort of inspiration. My gaze landed upon a box of frozen chicken nuggets and a bag of frozen ciabatta buns at the same time, and my brain, for once, utilized this information and put it to good use. I decided to try my hand at making some sort of sandwiches using the chicken nuggets, and while it might not be anything fancy, it sure is tasty.
You will need (for two people)
- 12 chicken nuggets, cooked from frozen
- Two ciabatta buns, sliced in half
- Two slices of your favourite kind of cheese
- Two pickle slices
- A forkful of hot peppers
- Ketchup
- Honey mustard
Assuming your nuggets are already cooking, begin by placing the two buns, face-up, on two separate plates. Lay your slices of cheese on either bun, and once your nuggets are cooked, pile those on top to the best of your ability.
Place your two sandwiches with the nuggets and cheese in an air fryer or toaster oven, whatever you own, and toast them just until the cheese melts and the bun begins to crisp.
Remove the sandwiches from your cooking device and add your pickles, hot peppers, ketchup, and mustard, and/or any other sandwich toppings you enjoy, and savour a remarkably simple yet satisfying sandwich that even the kiddos will enjoy, but perhaps without the hot peppers.
