I was recently hired by Edana Integrated Marketing as their Account Coordinator, and as a Public Relations Agency, Edana frequently works with Ontario Turkey, promoting turkey farmers within the province.
A significant component of Edana’s approach to promoting Ontario turkey consumption is their #TurkeyONTour campaign. The tour consists of a turkey food truck touring around Southwestern Ontario, handing out samples of turkey at highly recognized grocers throughout the summer months, Thursday through Sunday. This summer, the tour is promoting onion and parsley turkey sliders, and having been present at a couple of the stops of the tour, I can say with genuine honesty that consumers are very pleased with the sliders.
Not only is the #TurkeyONTour campaign incredibly unique and refreshing from a marketing perspective, but it further advocates for and supports Ontario turkey farmers. It is a common assumption that turkey is a protein intended to be sampled and served throughout the holiday season rather than year-round, but turkey is a diverse and tasty protein that can easily be enjoyed at any time of year.
Think about it; whether it be turkey sliders, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, turkey lasagna, or turkey soup, there’s no reason to refrain from incorporating more turkey into your diet. It’s a nutritious, easy-to-make protein, and it certainly can be enjoyed at times other than Christmas or Easter dinner. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, turkey can be prepared in a multitude of different ways.
If you happen to spot the #TurkeyOnTour food truck while doing your grocery shopping this summer, please come and say hello and sample a tasty slider. Feel free to meet and chat with our team, introduce yourself to our mascot, Wishbone, and learn about how turkey can easily become a staple in your diet. You’re supporting Ontario turkey farmers and sampling a fantastic turkey burger – what more could you ask for?
