In yesterday’s post I mentioned that my mom and I visited a bakery when we were in Port Dover on the weekend, and because the desserts I got from said bakery are so darn delicious, I wanted to share it with you.
Trish’s Bakery Cafe, located in the heart of downtown Dover, opened in 2009 and is a dedicated gluten-free facility. They’re serious about the absence of gluten in their shop, too, asking customers to refrain from bringing outside food or drinks into the bakery to decrease the chance of cross contamination from occurring. They’re open seven days a week, 8am to 5pm Monday through Saturday, and 10am to 4pm Sunday’s.
I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to see that all of their items are gluten-free, and quite a few are vegan as well. I’m not a vegan as I enjoy a nice, juicy steak from time to time, but when it comes to desserts, I pretty much am a ‘vegan’ because I can’t eat dairy or eggs, two of the biggest groups of animal by-products.
I decided to give their vanilla cupcake, chocolate cupcake, brownie and Twix bar a try, and all of these items cost a mere 13 dollars, which is cheap when it comes to allergy-free desserts. I have yet to try the Twix bar, but the cupcakes are great, and the brownie is hands down the best gluten-free, vegan brownie I have ever sunk my teeth into. I cannot believe how chocolatey, gooey and moist this bad boy is, and the icing is equally scrumptious. 10/10 for sure.
If you’re ever in Dover, I highly recommend paying Trish’s Bakery and Cafe a visit, whether or not you’re gluten-free or vegan. Their stuff is the bomb-diggity, and if you’re curious to learn more, be sure to check them out on Facebook.
