Here’s what you need to know about CBD oil and the entourage effect

In the scenario that you read the title of this post and asked yourself what the heck the entourage effect is, and how it correlates with CBD oil, not to worry. I was completely unfamiliar with the entourage effect as well, but thanks to an article originally published on Made By Hemp’s website, I have a better understanding of it and thought it would make for an interesting blog post.

So, what is the entourage effect? Well, it’s “the idea all compounds found in cannabis are best when taken together than when taken separately,” the article states.

Relatively straightforward so far, right?

Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s talk about how to tell if a certain type of CBD oil will trigger the entourage effect.

A majority of CBD oils “won’t openly say, ‘Entourage effect included.’ Instead, you are going to look for other words that classify what type of CBD product you are purchasing. While they all come with their own sets of benefits, these each have a different level of potency,” the article explains.

One way to tell whether or not a CBD product will offer the entourage effect is if it’s a full spectrum product. “CBD products that are truly full spectrum are extracted while maintaining the integrity of as many cannabinoids as possible, including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), therefore, CBD oil derived from hemp will have trace levels of THC up to .3% by law,” the article says.

Broad spectrum CBD oil also offers the entourage effect.

It’s important to acknowledge that “just because it has CBD on the label doesn’t mean you are going to experience the entourage effect. It is essential that your product is either full-spectrum or broad-spectrum hemp oil. When you see these words, it means that the entire hemp plant was included during the extraction process.”

There you go, ladies and gents.
