When I first started blogging a few years ago, I really didn’t have any sort of long-term plan. I knew wanted to post daily, and I’ve done just that.
1,132 times, to be exact.
I wasn’t sure how many people my posts would reach. To date, OnTheEdgeOfEverything has earned just under 20,000 views.
I didn’t know how many people would visit my blog. 13,400 of you have.
I had no clue if people outside of Canada would stumble across my posts. Most of my readers reside in the U.S., followed by Canada, the U.K., India, Australia and Germany.
When OnTheEdgeOfEverything came to be almost four years ago, I had zero followers. Today, I have 500, a number that may not seem significant, but to me means so, so much.
It’s difficult for me to comprehend the fact that 500 people have subscribed to my blog. That 500 of you get an email to your inbox every day containing a blog post I wrote. I don’t know you personally, and I likely never will. But I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for following me and my blog, regardless if you’re a new follower, or if you’ve been following OnTheEdgeOfEverything from the beginning.
Being a writer has taught me so many different things, but one lesson that stands out is the unification that can come from words. Words, in all contexts, can be tremendously powerful, and it’s incredible to contemplate the possibilities that can stem from language. Like having 500 complete strangers following your writing, for example.
I don’t know what the future holds for OnTheEdgeOfEverything, but I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon. My blog has developed into something bigger than I initially anticipated, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes me down the road.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. So much.
Here’s to 500 more.
