It’s sad to say that the world we live in is slowly going downhill in terms of humanity.
I know. What an optimistic statement to get you going today.
As much as I would love to convince myself that the state of the world is fine and fails to require acknowledgement, I believe this to be a blatant lie. I also believe that anyone who is under the impression that humanity in its current state is fine is looking at the world through horse blinders, but that’s just my opinion.
The reasoning behind this post is because of how many others agree with me regarding what I’m trying to communicate here. It seems as though more and more of us are becoming aware of just how crappy the human race has become, and this common recognition is pretty disturbing.
We so often hear cliche statements like ‘it costs $0 to be nice’ and ‘treat others how you wish to be treated’, yet despite being inundated with these reminders on a daily basis, we don’t seem to be taking notice. I’m unsure if we’ve gotten used to ignoring these messages of positivity, or whether or not the current state of the world is to blame, but either way, the point isn’t sinking in for us.
We all have bad days, and that’s inevitable. Shit happens and we may occasionally take our frustrations out on those who are undeserving of our anger. We don’t, however, have the right to talk down to people we perceive to be lesser than us, because realistically, we have no grounds to justify the idea that we are, in fact, better than others. We’re all human, and we’re all equal, and we all deserve to be treated as such. Period. It may benefit us to keep this in mind.
