I love me some authentic Greek food. I’ve always been a fan of this type of cuisine, and rest assured, if you’re in the mood for the good stuff, be sure to visit iOS estiatorio & wine bar on Upper James St. in Hamilton, Ont.
My family and I have been to iOS twice now, and both times have been wonderful experiences. The food, atmosphere, and staff in this restaurant are definitely worthy of a five-star review, and, if you happen to look them up via Google, you’ll likely notice many other customers feel the same way.
The menu at iOS certainly reflects that of any authentic Greek eatery. Whether you’re in the mood for some classic souvlaki, gyro, or saganaki (which is deep-fried cheese doused in ouzo, and yes, it is as divine as it sounds), iOS has your cravings covered. I’ve had their spicy garlic shrimp as well as their gyro with lemon roasted potatoes, and both were scrumptious. Their greek salad is also a must, and trust me when I say they’re not scarce with the feta cheese.
As their website explains, iOS’ “chefs cook using traditional recipes, while adding their own flair to create our unique flavours. (They) also use traditional spices, such as pepper, rosemary, thyme and others. (They) create our own exclusive sauces which are the basis for many of our signature dishes.”
iOS has already garnered some pretty terrific reviews from different food critics and they haven’t been open long. Feel free to take a look at one by Liz Kay and also Diane Galambos. If you’re hoping to try out iOS for yourself, be sure to call in advance and book a reservation. Their reputation for incredible food is certainly growing, and they can get rather busy. And, if you’re lucky and happen to get Danielle as your server, get ready to be entertained.
