Confidence is a skill of incredible importance, though is one, I would argue, not a lot of us possess. We likely all can think of someone we know who is a strong example of what confidence entails, but using the skill to benefit ourselves can be challenging, and a lot of us wrongly associate confidence with arrogance and therefore avoid any form of confidence.
Instilling confidence in children, especially in today’s day and age, is hugely important. I don’t think we have ever encountered such young individuals being body-conscious to the extent we are in current generations, and this is a troubling realization.
Understanding how to raise children to be confident doesn’t have to be complicated, though, and an article from The Good News Network explains why.
“82% of parents are making a daily, concerted effort to raise their children to be confident, according to a new survey.
“A poll of 1,000 parents of school-aged children found 47% said they make sure they themselves are a good example of confidence for their children.
“And 54% inspire confidence in their kids by allowing them to do things themselves.
“The study, conducted by OnePoll in conjunction with Stokke, aimed to determine how parents approach their child-rearing habits and discovered 73% said seeing their children exhibit confidence makes them feel like they’ve mastered their parenting skills.
“Additionally, 74% said having a close relationship with their children is vital to their kids’ confidence.
“Parents also hope to boost their kids’ overall confidence by celebrating milestones. However slight, 78% of parents make an effort to celebrate all those little ‘firsts,'” the article explains.
When you stop and think about it, incorporating confidence into a child’s upbringing doesn’t have to be all that difficult. Confidence is a skill that lasts a lifetime, and bestowing it on our youth has never had more value than it does now and will in the near future.
