I’ve been debating whether or not to write a post addressing the many opinions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine as I’m typically not one to address highly controversial topics here on my blog. I have come to the realization, however, that I’m tired of remaining quiet on the topic, and so here we are.
Allow me to begin by stating that I am not, my any means, against vaccinations. They are crucial when it comes to halting the spread of and potentially abolishing highly dangerous and contagious pathogens that roam our planet, and without them, I’m not exactly sure where we would be as human beings. Quite possibly dead, if I am being realistic.
I find the divide that has developed between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated in the context of the coronavirus to be absolutely despicable. Back when this pandemic began, I never would have suspected that we would get to a point in society in which we are quite literally bullying people for their opinions and beliefs pertaining to their own health and their own bodies. The ways in which we are reacting to and behaving towards those among us who choose not to get the COVID-19 vaccine is a disgraceful exemplification of humanity, and we should be truly ashamed of ourselves.
Why do we think it is okay to shun people, or even abate them, for making a choice that has direct relevance to their own bodies, minds, and lives? Why have we decided we are ever so entitled to force our beliefs onto others, or even ostracize and segregate those who do not coincide with out own beliefs and opinions? This behaviour is childish, selfish, and extremely dangerous when we consider the long-term effects and repercussions of how we are choosing to treat the unvaccinated.
Unless an unvaccinated person is posing threat to yourself or your friends, family and loves ones, allow me to suggest that you keep your unwanted and unwarranted opinions to yourself. If your pro-vaccine stance comes from a place of superiority or eliteness, I urge you to take a look in the mirror to be reminded of just how far up your ass your head has gone. Because, really, if you’re double-vaxed, why are you so concerned with those who aren’t?
