What are some things you’re good at?

I’ll be entirely transparent and admit that the topic of today’s post is not one I came up with independently. I use WordPress for my blog, and while I usually don’t enjoy the changes made to my site every time it undergoes an unprecedented upgrade, I can appreciate one element of the new system which entails providing a writing prompt each time you open a page to compose a post using WordPress. Today’s prompt read ‘what are five things you’re good at?’ and while I was hesitant to use this prompt initially because I do not want to give the impression I am arrogant or conceited, I realize far too many of us are reluctant to share with others what we excel at because of this mindset.

There is a stark difference between bragging and explaining, and I hope to do the latter in this particular post. And, I encourage you to take a moment to stop and contemplate things you yourself are good at, because it is healthy to practice positive affirmations in this thing we know as life.

As for my first skill, I can’t exactly say it is current seeing as I haven’t played the game in almost a decade, but I was, at one point, a not-too-shabby rugby player. When I first started playing rugby, my position was lock, but after a season I got promoted to eight-man. I played just shy of seven years including throughout high school and then for my city’s rep team.

I like to think I possess some reading and writing skills considering I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature.

It takes a looooot to embarrass me, so I’m not bad at public speaking.

I can make conversation with just about anyone.

I’m not a half-bad cook.

I like to think I have a decent sense of humour.

I tried to keep my descriptions as nonchalant as possible, and again, by no means am I trying to come across as cocky in this post. But, after reading about things I’m not terrible at, what would you say your skills are?
