Have you seen ‘Glass Onion’?

Blaine and I recently once again found ourselves on the Netflix homepage, trying to determine what to watch. I wanted to watch The Walking Dead but Blaine wasn’t in the mood, so naturally, we ended up watching what he wanted to.

I really can’t overly complain this time because he did, at least, pick a good one. He settled on ‘Glass Onion,’ and because the cast is so stacked, I figured it would be worth watching.

‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ depicts the following scenario, according to the movie’s IMDb page: “Five long-time friends are invited to the Greek island home of billionaire Miles Bron. All five know Bron from way back and owe their current wealth, fame and careers to him. The main event is a murder weekend game with Bron to be the victim. In reality, they all have reasons to kill him. Also invited is Benoit Blanc, the world’s greatest detective.”

The cast includes, but is not limited to, Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, Edward Norton as Miles Bron, Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay, Dave Bautista as Duke Cody, Janelle Monáe as Andi, and Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella.

Honestly, the film has a slow start. Both Blaine and I agreed that the first 30 minutes are quite boring, however, the pace thankfully quickens a bit of a ways into the movie. I don’t want to give too much away, and so without ruining anything, things start to get interesting once the ‘murder mystery’ element of the movie begins. The relationships that exist between the characters are diverse and dynamic, and while the plot is slow to build, if you keep an open mind, you will recognize it is done so intentionally. I have to admit, though, that Daniel Craig’s supposed Southern accent is arguably the worst I have ever heard.
