I have been hearing and reading about osteopathy quite a bit as of late. The practice isn’t exactly new; rather, I think a lot of people, like myself, weren’t entirely aware of what exactly osteopathy encompasses, and whether or not it is something we should consider.
An osteopath is similar to a chiropractor in the sense both individuals use their hands to manipulate the body for relief. The biggest difference between the two is that a chiropractor focuses on the spine and back whereas an osteopath focuses on the entire body.
That’s a rather generalized distinction, but I’m hoping you get the essence of both.
I have a friend who swears by osteopathy. She and her entire family have been seeing an osteopath for a few years now, and she brings her two young children as well. She told me that one of her children had a nasty case of colic, as many children do. She was at her wit’s end trying to determine how to provide her child with some relief, and her osteopath was able to relieve her child from colic entirely after three sessions. Her other child was dealing with some digestive issues and acid reflux, and again, their osteopath was able to rid the child of both issues.
I’ve never tried osteopathy myself, but my sister has, and she, too, experienced benefits from it. I find it rather incredible that the manipulations of organs, muscles, bones and joints can prove to be so effective in treating certain bodily ailments, and I would wager that osteopathy would benefit all sorts of people.
I’m not telling anyone to try anything, but I think osteopathy might be worth considering if you’re someone dealing with specific ailments. Do some research and see if osteopathy might be a good fit for you, or someone you know.
