Struggling to drink enough water? Read this

Most of us are familiar with the significance of staying hydrated. Seeing as we are mostly composed of water as human beings, it makes sense that water is something we should be putting back into our bodies, consistently, throughout a given day.

Despite the majority of us being well aware of the importance of drinking enough water, enough of us struggle to actually intake the required amount over a 24-hour period.

I will note that every body is different and therefore requires different volumes of water. Personally, I drink a minimum of two gallons a day. To some folks, that arguably sounds preposterous and strongly fictitious, but it is the truth; I had to drink four litres of water a day for a nine-month period when I was doing a Lyme detox, and ever since, my body craves water, and I’m now drinking even more than I ever have. My mom, on the other hand, has difficulty downing a few glasses of water a day – different bodies and lifestyles mean different water requirements.

If you know you’re not drinking enough water and are finding it challenging to get more down, there are a few things you can try in an attempt to make the process easier. The first is to consider the temperature of your water. I know that sounds a bit odd, but most of us figure water needs to be ice cold; chugging water the same temperature as Lake Erie in the middle of February isn’t easy for anyone, likely, and a lot of people cannot drink large volumes of water when it is too cold. Try drinking room-temperature water to see if that makes the process a bit less painful.

Another tip is to add some flavouring to your water, and I’m not referring to additives packed with garbage. Throw some fresh fruit in your water to give it a bit of a zing.

See if these small changes make a difference in increasing your water consumption.
