What do you do to ward off illness? (part two)

I figured I could extend the topic of how to go about avoiding sickness into two separate posts, so here we are. In yesterday’s post, I explained how oregano oil and sweating are two things I swear by that help to lessen cold and flu symptoms when they decide to pay my body a visit, and today we shall delve into more things I try to do to kick a big to the curb sooner than later.

This one might seem obvious, but I ensure I drink plenty of water when I am ill. I drink a shit ton of water as it is, but I do try to increase my intake whenever I am ill in hopes of flushing what’s making me feel like crap out of my body. Dehydration and illness do not pair well, so try your best to stay well hydrated whenever you’re feeling under the weather.

Continuing with what seems obvious, getting enough sleep is of utmost importance when you’re ill. Sleep is important enough when we are healthy, but its importance is heightened when we are sick. Seeing as our body is putting in double shifts trying to ward off whatever bug is plaguing us, it makes sense that we require additional sleep to ensure we heal adequately.

We oftentimes don’t necessarily feel like eating when we are sick, but this is another thing I believe helps me recover quicker when I am ill. Try your best to eat nutrient and vitamin-rich foods, and avoid skimping out on things like protein and carbohydrates because they are often what our bodies need when they’re not up to par.

I also strive to get as much vitamin C into my system as possible when I’m feeling crappy.

What are some of your tricks to fight off illness? Let me know in the comments.
