I have been consuming copious volumes of fruit for as long as I can remember. Fruit is almost always my go-to choice for a snack, and because I eat so damn much, I try to snack on fruit as often as possible in hopes of not rivalling the circumference of a killer whale.
At this point in my life, I have quite literally tried just about every fruit snack available on the market. Some of them are great, whereas others are shit, so I thought I would share my honest opinions of some popular brands in hopes of helping someone out there who is struggling to determine which one to try.
My absolute favourite fruit snacks are the 100% fruit bars by Sunrype. They come in a variety of flavours, and some even contain vegetables for an added nutritional boost. My favourite flavours include peach and strawberry, and the bars themselves are about an inch thick, so they’re more filling than some of the other bars on the market.
I am not a fan of the That’s it fruit bars, and I have tried every flavour. They’re extremely dry, to the point I can’t get one down my throat without the assistance of water, and their texture is chunky and weird. They’re rather small, and one Sunrype bar equates to about three That’s it ones, so they don’t offer a whole lot in the context of sustenance.
Bob Snail’s fruit roll-ups aren’t much better. I think they may appeal to children because they’re marketed as such, but again, they’re dry and almost difficult to eat. Their flavour sucks, and after purchasing them once, I won’t be again.
Zest fruit bars are pretty good, but they’re quite thin, and I have to eat several to achieve the same filling effect as one Sunrype bar.
Kashi’s fruit bars are very tasty, but they’re ridiculously small for their hefty price.
