When I was a child, I can now assume, rather accurately, that each and every time I heard the phrase Time is everything, I was not able to comprehend the truth of this statement. Blame it on an absence of maturity, or the lack of development of my frontal lobe, but regardless of the cause, I don’t think children are intended to understand the value of time. Now that I am an adult, I’ve come to realize how damn important time is, especially when you live a busy life and have responsibilities and obligations to uphold.
Multitasking is a somewhat controversial subject, but it is one I have made use of for many years now. Anytime I can simultaneously complete tasks, I seize the opportunity, although I recognize some folks just aren’t wired to work this way.
I thought it might benefit someone out there if I shared some of my own tips on the topic of saving time. I’m not an expert by any means, but if these tricks work for me, it is possible they might assist someone else, too.
First and foremost, do not succumb to procrastinating. It rarely pays off, and anytime you’re tempted to leave a task that requires your attention to the following day, shut it down before it takes over. Procrastination can be an extremely difficult cycle to break, and once you’re in the midst of its clutches, it can be really tricky to find a way out.
Another tip is multitasking, but within reason. As an example, say you know your shower is in need of a solid cleaning. You don’t know when you’re going to find the time to get it done, so it continues to be overlooked. Something I do, personally, is clean the interior of my shower whenever I wash my hair. It takes a few minutes to get it cleaned up, so while I’m doing that, I allow a hair mask to deeply condition my hair.
Time is everything, and with a little trial and error, you can absolutely designate small efforts that lead to a grand overall impact in the context of saving time.
