Restaurant Review: The Lakehouse

My family and I are often on the hunt for new restaurants to try out, so when my mom and dad received some gift cards for the Lakehouse as a gift, we figured it would be a great place to attend following my graduation from Niagara College.

My mom, dad and I had been to the Lakehouse quite a few years ago, but the atmosphere was drastically different compared to what it consists of today. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to see bright colours, nautical decor, and vast windows overlooking the lake, all of which contributed to a truly spectacular atmosphere.

The food my family and I ordered was prepared well, and I was pleased to see that the menu offered a variety of ingredient variations for a handful of the dishes for individuals with dietary restrictions. I had their Arribiata pizza on a gluten free crust with no cheese; my sister had the same but without any ingredient changes and a Caesar salad; my mother had the mushroom pizza and a spinach salad; my dad had a Caesar salad, escargot and a charcuterie board. My parents both had an alcoholic beverage while my sister had iced tea and I had water, and the grand total of the bill was astronomically larger than necessary.  Yes, the food was good, but it definitely wasn’t the best pizza I have ever tasted, and my family agreed that theirs was not worth the price, either.

The Lakehouse is somewhere to consider eating at for special occasions or a treat now and then, but it’s definitely not a place I would categorize as affordable. Our gift cards certainly came in handy, and as spectacular as the setting is, it is difficult to justify such high prices on rather regular food items.
