Have you had Shaw’s ice cream?

A couple of days ago, my mom informed me she was going grocery shopping and requested that if there were any items I was in need of to write them on her list. I’ve been craving some cookies and cream ice cream as of late, so I jotted that onto her note and expected her to come home with Breyers or some other big name brand.

I was pleasantly surprised upon opening the freezer later that evening that she grabbed the flavour I asked for, made by Shaw’s.

I am not exaggerating when I saw that Shaw’s ice cream, or at least their cookies and cream ice cream, blows Breyers right out of the parlour.

Not only is their ice cream fucking delightful, but they’re local to where I reside, which is always appreciated. They’re based in St. Thomas, Ontario, and, according to their website, their ice cream is “made the way it should be; using fresh 100% Canadian Cream is what we’re all about! 2018 marks the 70th Anniversary of Shaw’s Ice Cream.”

They have products other than ice cream, like cakes and shakes, and they’re well known for their dairy bar if you’re ever in the area.

Some of their flavours of ice cream, as listed on their website, include:

  • Banana cream pie
  • Unicorn toots (LOL)
  • Funky Monkey
  • Coconut
  • Bear Claw
  • Bubblegum
  • Birthday Cake
  • Butter Pecan
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
  • Double Stuffed Cookie
  • Grape
  • Key Lime Pie
  • Mango
  • Mocha Almond Fudge
  • Rum and Raisin

And that’s only naming a few. I was blown away by how many varieties they offer, and they even make frozen yogurt as well as a few sugar free flavours.

I’ve only been privileged enough to taste one of their flavours, but based on the descriptions on their website, just about all of them are arguably drool-worthy. If you haven’t tried Shaw’s ice cream, you are seriously missing out.
