Many moons ago, I got my first off-farm job working at Pita Pit in West Brantford. I say off-farm job because my parents’ rule when my sister and I were younger was that if we wanted to work full-time on the farm, that was fine and dandy, but not without getting a job off the farm first. Considering my dad is my boss regarding my job on the farm, it makes sense that my parents wanted my sister and I to experience a position in which our father was not our boss.
I worked at Pita Pit for about a year, left for a bit, then ended up coming back again. I enjoyed working there, so I was a little sad when I first heard that the Pita Pit I used to work at, located in West Brantford, closed up.
I was not as upset, however, once I caught wind of the business that would be taking its place.
BarBurrito on Colborne Street in Brantford has quickly become one of my favourite places to grab some grub from if I’m pinched for time and am not able to make dinner for Blaine and me. When I first started visiting, I would always get a burrito, usually with their crunchy chicken. Not too long after opening officially, the business started carrying crispy bam bam shrimp, one of my all-time favourites, as a protein option for their burritos, and upon consuming one, I was completely and utterly hooked.
Lately, I’ve been loving their burrito bowls, which are literally a deconstructed burrito without the tortilla. I always get the shrimp, along with rice, pinto beans, cheese, salsa, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cilantro, their housemade burrito sauce and their housemade bam bam sauce.
I’m drooling all over my keyboard as I write this.
Not only is the food insanely delicious and fresh every single time I visit, but the staff at this particular location is astounding in terms of their customer service and how friendly and warm they are. I’ve gotten to know the owners quite well, and each time I visit their store they have me feeling like a celebrity by the time I leave.
Do yourself a favour and visit the BarBurrito in West Brantford. The food is great, the staff is wonderful, and it is an affordable option to boot.
