As much as I appreciate a solid chocolate chip cookie, it can be tricky to find one I can eat due to my food allergies. I was religiously purchasing peanut butter chocolate chip cookies from the Paris Gluten-Free Bakery and Marketplace, however, I am now unable to eat these because they contain potato products.
Thus, the search for a new chocolate chip cookie has begun.
I recently purchased Sweets from the Earth Chocolate Chip cookies. According to the Sweets From the Earth website, these cookies are produced in a facility that is free of dairy, egg, sesame, peanuts, and nuts, and are non-GMO, vegan, cholesterol-free, free of refined sugar, free of artificial colours and flavours, are trans-fat free, and are certified Kosher.
Pretty impressive, right?
The ingredients for the chocolate chip cookies are as follows:
“Organic spelt flour (wheat), dairy-free chocolate (organic evaporated cane juice, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, ground vanilla beans), organic evaporated cane juice, organic oats, sunflower oil, organic tofu, organic soy milk, organic blackstrap molasses, baking soda, soy lecithin, sea salt.”
These cookies are a great option for anyone who suffers from a combination of different food sensitivities, allergies, or intolerances, and further are a great option for anyone who identifies as a vegan. The cookies come pre-packaged in packs of three, and a box retails for roughly $9.00.
These cookies are certainly more affordable compared to others I have seen and purchased in the past, and while they’re not bad, they’re definitely not the best I’ve had. Personally, I prefer a strong chocolate taste in a chocolate chip cookies, and these ones are somewhat lacking in terms of the chocolate punch.
Not bad, but not great.
I will continue my hunt for a new chocolate chip cookie that meets my expectations, and when this glorious discovery occurs, I’ll be sure to let you know.
