Craving Mexican? Check out The Mule in Hamilton

Mexican cuisine is hands down one of my favourite types of food to eat. My family and I have always loved Mexican dishes, a preference which has likely been influenced by our migrant workers and their choosing to share some of their phenomenal creations with us, and whenever we have the chance to have this type of food, we seize the opportunity.

A couple of evenings ago, my sister, cousin and I went to The Mule in Hamilton. We hadn’t been out to dinner since COVID-19 hit, so we weren’t entirely sure of what to expect, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful. We opted to sit outside, and we had a lovely spot right on the street.

The menu at The Mule isn’t huge, but rest assured, there is something for everyone. Their speciality is their tacos, and they have a wide array of options such as chicken, beef, pork belly, and a vegan option.

I had a chicken taco with pickled red cabbage that was incredible along with some refried beans and chips. The portions aren’t huge, though, so be sure to get a couple of different things. My sister had nachos and my cousin had white fish ceviche, and everything was delicious.

I found the prices a tad steep, but nothing crazy, especially for Hamilton. It was very busy but we didn’t wait long for our food, and our server was wonderful.

Although we ate outside, I did go inside the restaurant to use the bathroom, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The bathrooms are actually super cool, and the entire facility is bright, colourful and warm.

If you’re a fan of Mexican food, I definitely recommend checking out The Mule. Like I said, there really is something for everyone, and it’s absolutely worth stopping in for some authentic tacos.
